For me (Ubuntu, de_DE-UTF8 or so locale) tests 14-16 fail. However, it's 
a manually reproducible bug, too: If I try searching in a file with 
funny characters, the searching will be off for matches after the first 
non-ascii (or at least >8bit) character.
