The STC we are using is almost 3 years old and STC itself had
several bug fixes - including UTF-8 related issues and perl 5.10 parsing
fixed since then. For some details see http://padre.perlide.org/wiki/wxWidgets

IMHO either someone helps the wxWidgets team to include the latest STC,
port STC to wxPerl separatelly or find some other widget that can be
used instead
of STC.
