that is definitely a good thing.

yes. alt+arrow to change the region. ctrl+(shift+)tab inside the region,
to keep it consistent with the notebook.

i'd say that we can kep them by now, since the window menu is not that
crowded. and it can be easier to directly switch to whatever window one
wants. otoh, i never use them, so i don't really care if you want to
remove them...
